Carbon Offsets

2017 saw a significant increase in early season burning and a reduction in late season fires.  APN Rangers are actively managing fire and are seeing an increase in animals such as emus and frill necked lizards.

Much of the fire work is undertaken by helicopters dropping incendiaries.  Additional fire trails and breaks are being built and will see more on the ground burning occurring in coming years and less aerial work.

The property is broken into zones.  Some zones will be burnt early every year as they are high traffic areas and therefore high risk for late season fires. Others areas will be burnt every 2 – 3 years to reduce fuel loads.  The zones take into account roads, fences, natural barriers and vegetation types.
